“How are you”? How many times a day are we asked that? Do we use that question as an opportunity to give glory to God, or do we lower our chins to our belly buttons and start with the long list of complaints? Do we get so bogged down with what we DON”T have that we can’t see what we DO have? So many blessings in our lives that we forget to acknowledge. The little things that we have grown blind to. What a slap in the face to God that must be. We get so caught up in our secular wants that we forget Jesus has secured for us a place in His Father’s kingdom. That should make you smile. That alone should have you responding differently to the question.
So… “How are You” and your answer is??????
Sometimes life can be overwhelming and its ok to feel frustrated or sad. Scripture tells us that Jesus wept when he went to the tomb of his friend Lazarus. Like Jesus, we all face our moments in the Garden.
Feelings, both negative and positive, are important aspects of the human psyche and its simply not healthy to repress them. I don’t think being a believer means that we have to be happy all the time or that we can’t share how we truly feel with others.
I do agree with you that in faith we can keep things in perspective. In our darkest hour, we are never really alone.
I’m feeling really good today. Despite a killer cold, my daughter Elizabeth gave birth to my second grandchild, Gwendolyn Elaina.
Over the weekend, I told Msgr. Pat that Elizabeth would be giving birth on Tuesday and asked him to keep my daughter and the baby in his prayers. He pointed out that Tuesday was the feast day of St. Catherine of Bologna and like the good pastor that he is reached into his breast pocket and gave me a holy card.
I saw that as a good sign
Monday evening, I asked St. Catherine to pray with me for my daughter and her baby. So far all goes well thanks in no small way to the old girl hearing my request and praying with me.
Today I feel great…tomorrow, well that’s another day. But we are never truly alone.
