SO YOU WANT TO BE A CATECHIST?
Do you feel called by the Spirit to personally get involved with the religious education program in the parish?
We need members of our community of the People fo God who will be instruments of instruction, formation and transformation. Catechists are people who respond to the vocation, or calling, given by Jesus:
You did not choose me,
No, I chose you;
and I commissioned you
to go out and bear fruit,
fruit that will last…
(Jn 15:16)
In order to be a Catechist in the Diocese of Paterson you will need:
- a completed background check
- to go to a virtus workshop
- sign code of conduct
Call the Parish Office (973) 962-6081 to get background check form and the Code of Conduct.

If you do not have these requirements completed, there is plenty of time to have it done.
All adults who wish to work with children in any capacity must have completed VIRTUS training through the diocese, been fingerprinted with completed background check and signed and returned the code of conduct.
Fingerprinting is no longer necessary. However, a background check form and Code of Conduct are available in the Rectory Office Monday-Friday 9am to noon.
If you do have these itemes completed you do not have to do it again.
You will also be asked to complete hours toward catechist certification.
- hours can be accumulated during regular ccd
- hours can be accumulated outside our parish
- hours can be accumulated at home
